Fylde and Wyre health chiefs are celebrating after being nominated in two prestigious industry awards.

NHS Fylde and Wyre Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has been named as a finalist in the Health Service Journal (HSJ) CCG of the Year award for the second year running.

And Thornton GP Dr Felicity Guest, the CCG’s clinical lead for innovation, has also made the shortlist for the Rising Star award.

The awards announcement caps a successful year so far for Fylde and Wyre CCG, which was recently rated ‘outstanding’ – one of just 10 CCGs in the country to receive the top score – in its annual assurance assessment by NHS England.

Peter Tinson, chief operating officer at the CCG, said: “We are immensely proud that our hard work has once again seen us shortlisted for CCG of the Year.

“Last year we made it through to the final six and hopefully this year we can go one better.

“We are also all delighted for Felicity who, as well as being an incredibly gifted GP, has already helped to make a difference to services in Fylde and Wyre at a very early stage in her career.”

Dr Guest said: “I am very proud to be shortlisted in this award alongside some very talented and influential people.

“I feel it is a tremendous achievement for me to reach this stage and if I was to win the award I would be even more delighted.”

The CCG and Dr Guest will now attend interviews at the HSJ’s offices in London later this year where judges will pick a winner, to be announced at a ceremony in the capital in late November.

Alastair McLellan, editor of the HSJ, said: “With the NHS experiencing a tough time as funding fails to keep up with demand, the HSJ Awards are once again the best reminder of the excellence the service is capable of.

“Taken together the entries to the HSJ Awards represent work which, directly or indirectly, has saved thousands of lives and enhanced many times that number.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the InterContinental 02 in London on 23 November.
