Dr Thomas Johnson qualified from the University of Manchester in 1977 and worked at Blackpool Victoria Hospital as a registrar in A&E medicine until he took up a post at Ash Tree House Surgery in Kirkham as a principal in 1980. He retired from general practice in 2015.

Dr Johnson developed one of the country’s the first ‘tier 2’ services in musculoskeletal medicine at Lytham Hospital in 1993 (the forerunner of the current METCAT service) and is a recognised tutor in musculoskeletal medicine with Orthopaedic Medicine International.

He has a particular interest in medical student education and is an academic adviser to the University of Manchester Medical School.
