Benefits of being a CCG

- CCGs are led by GPs – the people most ideally placed to plan and commission services as they are at the heart of their communities, talk to patients every day, understand their needs and have first-hand experience of health issues.
- By having direct access to our communities via GP practices, we give local people greater opportunity to become involved and shape the future of health services.
- CCGs are deliberately small organisations. By reducing bureaucracy and administration, we free-up funds to be spent on services and are able to concentrate on what we do best, put people first and respond flexibly to changing needs.
- Being overseen by a governing body of members with local knowledge and a commitment to improving local healthcare means appropriate arrangements are in place to carry out functions effectively, efficiently, economically and with good governance.
